Day 20

Miles hiked today: 6
LT miles: 169

Slept in a little.  Breakfast isn't until 8 anyway. Oh it was nice.  The bed was so soft.

My everything hurts.  I am so unbelievably sore all over.  Walking.  Ow.

We spent some time trying to figure out the next few days but weather is not working in our favor. As of now it's supposed to be raining the day we go over Camel's Hump.  Which is a worse climb/descent than we did yesterday.  And that makes things way more dangerous. So we're not entirely sure what to do here.  Either way today will be shorter as we won't hit the trail until late morning, we still need to buy food.

Today is the day I'm not feeling this.   Every time we stop in a town I'm less ready to hit the trail again.  And Waitsfield was a cute little town.  I liked it way better than Rutland. And the B&B was so cozy.  Ok, stop being a wimp.

The B&B owner dropped us at the grocery and we got some food.  Then had our first successful hitch to the trailhead.  Super nice guy named Chris and his dog.  His daughter hiked the LT so he loved helping hikers.

Naturally after freezing yesterday it's near 90 today. Omg so hot.  And we started straight up again.  Whew.

Got to the shelter by 5ish.  Not bad.  We have a pretty nasty mountain between us and the next shelter that we were warned to give lots of time for and we didn't have that today. Not sure yet about tomorrow. Our original plan was to just do the next peak and do Camel's the next day because it's insane and we want lots of time.  But day after tomorrow it's supposed to rain.  And that's a REALLY bad idea.

So we talked it over.  To summit CH and get to the next shelter os only 10 miles so if we get up stupid early and hustle I *think* we can do it.  It's gonna be brutal.

Here's Camel's Hump:
🥲
So set an alarm for 430 so we can get up and packed and going with lots of time.  Wish us luck!
