The Great 2025 Road Trip Day 9
Up early and on the road. Another long drove today. Final push and we'll be at Glacier!
Thankfully not too much longer the scenery changed. Slightly more mountainy and more trees and small creeks/rivers. We buzzed thru a few really cute small towns with old buildings.
Hotel was great choice. We both slept so well. Much needed.
We had 2 choices for our route today. One was faster but one looked to be more scenic and only 20 minutes longer so we chose the latter. Started out with a lot of this:
We were both feeling a bit less anxious and enjoying finding little houses tucked into coves in the middle of nowhere and trying to surmise who lives there.
Crossed thru Helena. My dad had a client in Helena for many years and flew out here once or twice a month for quite some time. So I had to check out the B&B where he used to stay! It was just off of our route so not a problem to take a little peek. What a cute little place!
I wanted to pop inside and talk to the people that work there but the door was locked and it looks to be private Apartments now. Still fun to see my dad's old stomping grounds!
More driving in and out of hills and thru little towns. And the most breathtaking views
Flathead Lake was exceptionally awe inspiring. I could not get any great photos while we were driving unfortunately. Also around the same time I had a rather upsetting call so I was distracted.
We arrived at Glacier and sped to the visitor center just before they closed. We got our 7 day park pass and the low down on trying to secure a walk up back country permit. Basically we gotta show up at 7 and hope to get one. We'll be there at 6.
Back to the HipCamp we secured for the night and made dinner and set up the tent. So glad we had a hotel last night. We made plans A, B and C for tomorrow. Hell or high water we're going to Glacier tomorrow!
