Upper Peninsula Day 1

Just a driving day.  Got a slightly later start than I would have liked but we still made it about 90% of the way there.  

The bridge was terrifying as per usual.  And naturally there was traffic so we got to enjoy just sitting on it.  😳

Not much to report.  At an Airbnb near Munising in Christmas, Michigan.  (Free wine though!)

Tomorrow we drive 3 hours more west and start our hike.

Giant wiener just south of the bridge.  Why?

    Yeah, you're blogging again. The bridge looks scary sideways, is it any less scary turned the right way.......or perhaps worse?

      I can't figure out why when I post from my phone the photos are sideways!! I'm going through and fixing them now. Ugh.

The Great 2025 around Trip Day 17

Final day.  One last mini adventure before heading home.  Felt weird stopping for the day when we are maybe 90 minutes from home but we wanted to spend time with friends and not feel rushed. We went to Aullwood Audubon in the morning to see the giant trolls!  Brendan has not seen them yet.  And one last hike to boot! So cool. We were both getting really done with being on the road. One last push home! Made it back safely to one really confused and anxious kitty.   Got stuff mostly unpacked, laundry done and showered.  Looking forward to our own bed tonight.  All in all an amazing trip.  We're very glad we went!  Give me a week and I'll be ready to go again, lol. Kinda slept in a little.  We slept a little better last night.  Got up and had an amazing breakfast at the inn.  Such an amazing place! We decided to get one more overnight in at one of our most favorite spots, Bromely mountain.  It's a bit of a haul up the mountain and just as we remembered it.  But the ski hut we stayed in last year has some improvements.  A FRIGGIN DRYER!!!  We remembered they have power up here so people can charge their stuff but the put in a dang dryer!  That is a huge gift for hikers.  Lot of AT hikers up here hanging out and drying stuff. On the way up we totally ran into one of the SOBO AT hikers we met giving away soda yesterday!  Late Start.  And later on met another SOBO hiker we'd helped yesterday who's name I forget.  We explored the area a little.   Walking down another path that leads to the ski resort.  We didn't walk all the way down or anything but just around.  It was jus...

The Great 2025 Road Trip Day 11

Up at 5 to get in the park.  Weather finally turned last night.  About 20 minutes after we went to bed it started raining and the temps dropped.  Woke up to lower 50s but all snug and warm in our tent.  It was a struggle to get out in the cold and get moving.  Felt like The Long Trail and I LOVE it! It was FOGGY.  Probably the densest fog over seen.  Glad we were driving on a cliff.  💀  but we pressed on and miraculously got one of the LAST parking spots at Logan Pass.  This is seriously unheard of.   We got out and made coffee and hung out in the car waiting for the fog to lift.  I mean check out these views!   that's worth the 10 days and 2700 miles right there!  (Lol)  joking.  It gets better. We did a magnificent hike! About 5 miles round trip with something like 1800 feet of climbing overall.  It was rough but not impossible.  And so worth it.  ...
