Upper Peninsula Day 6

Just an hour or so after we fell asleep a thunderstorm arrived.  We had to jump up and shut the windows but fell asleep blissfully to the steady drum of rain on the roof.  💚

We deliciously indulged in a sleep-in, sleeping until 830.  Check out isn't until 11 and we have a short drive today so we lazed about drinking our coffee and reading on the couch sharing a big blanket.

We finished getting dressed and cleared out and hit the road finding a place to grab brunch along the way.  We're only about 8 hours from home but we are in no rush and want to enjoy another day.  So I found a super cute B&B about halfway home in the crook of the thumb on the mitten. Historic home.   Little more bougie than what we usually do but I'm hoping it's haunted!  👻🤞

We stopped before the Macinac Bridge to put our feet in Lake Michigan.  Hoping later we can do the same in Lake Huron.  3 lakes in under 24 hours!

We arrived in Bay City around 4 and checked into the B&B.  It's not what I'm used to.  I go to fancy places and my brain shuts off, lol.  They took our drink orders for breakfast the next day and offered complimentary wine and fresh cookies. 🤯

We settled in, had wine and a cookie and walked downtown in search of dinner/drinks.  This town is so cool but shockingly devoid of people.  So many amazing places and the streets were dead.  We were both baffled.

Great places and great drinks and walked around a bit to take in the local art.  Still baffled at the lack of people. Especially given the fact it's  Saturday night. But overall we had a lovely evening.

Back to the B&B by 9ish for another glass of wine outside in their beautiful gazebo space.  Then retreated to our room to polish off the drinks and hit the hay.  We didn’t make it to Huron.  Tomorrow morning for sure.
